of the Macintosh operating system you are running by selecting Apple
menu > About This Mac and a window will open as shown
below:
When the About This Mac dialog box opens you will see the version of the operating system just below the text macOS. For instance, in the About This Mac dialog box above the operating version is Ventura 13.0 The first two numbers of the Macintosh operating system version denote which major version of the operating system the computer is running. The last number shows how many updates have been installed. In the About This Mac dialog box above the major operating version is 10.15 and there have been 7 major updates installed. To find out what version of the Windows operating system you are running do one of the following: For Windows 11 click the Start menu > Settings > System Display, notifications, apps, power > About and then the following window will open: For Windows 10 click the Start menu > Settings > System Display, notifications, apps, power > About and then the following window will open: When any of the above System dialog box opens you will see the version of the operating system just below the text Windows edition. For instance, in the System dialog box above the operating version is Windows 10 Education. In the same window you may also want to check if your System type: is a 32-bit Operating System or 64-bit Operating System (as is the case in the example above) as some software has you download either a 32 bit or 64 bit version.
