3) What should I do if I miss a lecture?

4% of your grade will come from attendance and participation.  You need to be present for 80% of the time to get the full 4% towards your grade.  Therefore, missing lectures would eventual lower your  grade.  However, coming to lecture will also help you do better on lecture exams.  Some items that appear on the exams will only be covered in lecture.  If you miss a lecture it is recommended that you read any assigned reading and/or download any information pertaining to that lecture from the Lecture Schedule web page.  It is also recommended that you find someone in class who takes good notes and ask if you can copy them.  Once you have studied any material assigned for that lecture and obtained the notes for that lecture then if you have any questions contact your instructor.

4) What should I do if I miss a lab?

Lab attendance is mandatory and counts 4% toward your overall CS101 grade. Attendance will be taken during each lab. You get two excused absences that will not count against your grade.  However, you must still complete any missed lab assignments by their due date to earn the missed assignment grade.  Each absence after two will be counted as an unexcused absence.  Your first unexcused absence will lower your attendance grade 2%. Your second unexcused absence will lower your attendance grade 2%. If you miss 5 labs total, you can be dropped from CS101.  If you cannot regularly attend the lab section for which you are enrolled, you must drop CS 101 since attendance is mandatory   However, if you do miss a lab you must still complete any lab assignments you missed by their due date to earn the missed assignment grade. You can learn how to makeup missed lab assignments on the Grading Policies web page.
